Prasat Top West is located about 1.5 km from Prasat Top East. This temple is located just outside Angkor Thom on the other side of the Siem Reap River.
Comment:
The temple, originally consisting of a single Prasat tower on a steep platform, shares similarities with Prasat Top East. However, its history is quite different. Inscriptions reveal that Prasat Top West was originally a much older Hindu sanctuary. It may have been built as early as the 9th century. A Roluos inscription from this period was found at this site. It is certain that a Hindu monument existed at this location as early as the 10th century. During the Bayon period, the temple was adopted as a Buddhist sanctuary and appears to have remained so even during the Hindu revival in the late 13th century. However, the current structure dates from the late 13th century, the post-Bayon period. Some elements are even post-Angkorian, for example some remaining sculptures, in the Theravada Buddhist style, dating from the 17th century.

Le Prasat Top Ouest se trouve à environ 1,5 km du Prasat Top Est . Ce temple se trouve juste à l'extérieur d'Angkor Thom de l'autre côté de la rivière Siem Reap.
Commentaire :
Le temple, initialement constitué d'une seule tour Prasat sur une plateforme escarpée, présente des similitudes avec le temple Prasat Top Est. Son histoire est cependant bien différente. Des inscriptions révèlent que le Prasat Top Ouest était à l'origine un sanctuaire hindou bien plus ancien. Il a peut-être été construit dès le IXe siècle. Une inscription de cette période Roluos a été retrouvée à cet endroit. Il est certain qu'un monument hindou existait déjà à cet endroit au Xe siècle. Durant la période du Bayon, le temple fut adopté comme sanctuaire bouddhiste et semble l'être resté même lors du renouveau hindou à la fin du XIIIe siècle. Cependant, la structure actuelle date de la fin du XIIIe siècle, de la période post-Bayon. Certains éléments sont même post-angkoriens, par exemple certaines sculptures restantes, de style bouddhiste theravada, datant du XVIIe siècle.
